- 8 January 1928: Fife Pit Explosion - A Second Death - In the cases of two of the seven victims of the explosion at the Wilson's and Clyde Coal Co.'s Glencraig pit late on Friday evening death has taken place. From the first little hope had been entertained of the recovery of William Whyte and Simpson Mitchell, both brushers, who resided at Foulford Road, two of the four men removed to Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital. Whyte passed away on Sunday morning, and Mitchell's death occurred yesterday. Both men had suffered from extensive burns about the arms, face, and upper parts of the body. [Scotsman 10 January 1928]
