- 3 November 1936: Miner Killed At Lumphinnans - George Whyte, brusher, Park Avenue, Cowdenbeath, lost his life in No.XI Pit, Lumphinnans Colliery, yesterday morning, through being crushed about the head by a stone which suddenly came away from the face of the brushing.
