- Details of Event
- The empty set of 45 tubs was run as usual into a landing dipping 1 in 8. A mooring chain was hung on to the back of the set as it was coming to rest. When the mooring chain took the weight off the set, the jerk caused the crook on the end of the draw bar of the third tub to break, and 43 tubs ran amain through the landing. They struck deceased, who was trying to get refuge, and killed him. It was found that about one-third of the fractured surface was old. Probably both the old and new areas of fracture were due to similar causes.
