- Details of Event
- He was driving a 4ton travelling crane on the quarry top, and had picked up a piece of stone weighing 2.75 tons and swung it round to nearly the opposite side from which it started when a gust of wind caught the crane and stone and caused the crane to fall over. The track on which the crane ran was 24ft. from the quarry edge, and when the crane fell deceased got up and walked into the quarry and fell a distance of 54ft. and was killed. H was probably in a dazed condition owing to the fall and the confusion attending it and the escaping steam from the boiler.
