A place 8 yards wide had been driven up 8ft. from a level. A shot-hole charged with about 1 b. of compressed powder was fired in the left corner, and a stone projected from it had apparently ricocheted off the dip side of level and struck deceased who had retired along the level to the right for a distance of 28 yards from the shot. He succumbed to his injuries three days afterwards.
