- A "bump" occurred in a Thick coal working, and was immediately followed by a fall of coal from the side, of the opening. The coal struck deceased, causing a compound fracture of the left leg. An artery burst while, he was being conveyed out of the mine. First aid was rendered, but it proved ineffectual to stop the flow of blood. On arrival at the hospital he was found to be in a state of collapse, and he died from exhaustion on the following day.
