- Details of Event
- 19 July 1933: Fife Mining Fatality - Alexander Westwater, son of William Westwater, 12 Sligo Street, Lumphinnans, near Cowdenbeath, has died in the Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital as the result of a mining accident which occurred on Friday last at Glencraig colliery, belonging to the Wilson and Clyde Coal Co. A sad feature of the tragedy was that Westwater was actually completing his last shift prior to going on holiday. He was struck in front of the body by a rope, and sustained very severe injuries. Deceased, who was 22 years of age, was unmarried. [Scotsman 21 July 1933]
