- Details of Event
- Deceased was filling coal from a bord place about 8 feet wide, when there was a heavy bump, causing a fall of top coal between the timber and the face. He was struck on the head and received injuries front which he died on 7th December. No timber supports were displaced by the fall the specified distance for setting supports had just been reached. The fall came from a slip in the coal and a weight break at right angles the existence of which was known prior to the accident, and which were just the maximum distance away from the last supports. The place had been inspected by a deputy two hours before the accident and reported safe.
