Of Green Lane, Birchmoor, who was fatally injured whilst working underground at Colliery on Sunday afternoon. Mr West was engaged with other men in ripping operations when a piece of rock fell from the roof and struck him on the head, inflicting severe injuries. He was taken to Tamworth Hospital but on arrival was found to be dead. A verdict of accidental death was returned at the Tamworth inquest (Tamworth Herald).
