- Roof fall. Early on Monday morning, James Brown (42), pit brusher, residing in St Marys Wynd, Stirling, met with a fatal accident while at work in the level section of the Knott coal seam of No.2 pit, MilIhall Colliery. It appears that a stone weighing about 2 tons fell from the roof and pinned Brown to the pavement, death being instantaneous. Deceased was a married man. (Stirling Observer).
