- Details of Event
- Deceased was killed by a fall of rock in the New Mine Coal at the face of a stall which had struck a fault. The fault bad been stripped, and the place had not been worked for several days. Deceased then decided to prove the fault, and had just commenced with a pick to prepare for a shot hole near the roof when about 2 tons of rock fell from between the fault and a slip 4ft. back. The rock was strong, but a row of trees alongside the fault would have been a wise precaution to have taken.
