- Details of Event
- Deceased was engaged preparing a bed close to the bottom of the quarry for a stone which had been sprung by a shot, to fall on. It is supposed that he most have loosened some part of the rock that was holding the upper portion, for the whole piece to the shot-hole, over 12 tons in weight, came away and caught him. The stone, though overhanging and sprung by the shot, was considered to be quite safe.
