There were two self-acting inclines, one feeding the other in the same line. He ran his set and prepared for the upper incline set to he run. He received the usual signal and answered it. He then followed the empty set up the incline but so far up he was crossing over the full way with the intention of getting into a refuge hole when the full set ran on to him and killed him. He had been going up to help the boy at the top of the upper incline, this being part of his work. He ought not to have been allowed to travel the incline when the sets were running.
