- 8 February 1927: Blantyre – Colliery Accident – On Tuesday, Thomas Watson, a widower, who resides in Grant's Buildings, Stonefield, met with a nasty accident when engaged at his work in Priory Colliery, which belongs to Messrs Wm Baird & Co, Ltd, when he had the misfortune to be caught by a rake of loaded hutches. He was conveyed to the surface as quickly as possible, and on medical aid being summoned it was found that one of his ankles was broken in two places. He was afterwards removed to the Royal Infirmary in the Blantyre ambulance waggon. [Hamilton Advertiser 12 February 1927]
