- Details of Event
- When apparently picking out or unramming a missed shot it exploded and killed him. The miner Thomas Veal, with whom deceased and another boy of 17 worked, seems to have allowed them to return within about 10 minutes of the miss-fire, but did not himself return to the place. Veal had worked 40 years in this mine, and appears to have never made himself acquainted with the rules on this subject.
