- 8 October 1935: Kirkconnel Colliery Fatality - James Walker (25), who resided at 7 Polveoch Terrace, Kirkconnel, was fatally injured by a fall of stone in No.1 Fauldhead Colliery, Kirkconnel. Walker had left his working place to take a meal, and on returning for his coat was crushed by a large stone. He sustained severe injuries, and died an hour after being admitted to Dumfries Infirmary. [Scotsman 9 October 1935]
