Deceased was taking off a corner at a turn in a road for the purpose of widening it. He had holed out the old pack wall for a length of 4.5 feet to a depth of about 18 inches, when a portion of the overlying rock came away from a joint or break and fell upon him, severely injuring his ribs and spine. He succumbed to his injuries on 12th September, 1912. A break in the rock parallel to the face of the pack might have been anticipated, and the setting of a sprag would probably have prevented the accident.
