- Whilst being lowered down a sinking shaft with two other men, the kibble was over-turned by coming into contact with the water at the bottom, throwing deceased out and drowning him. The banksman had not heard the signal given to hold, which was done by striking the kibble with a hammer. The proper rapper signal was only used when men were working at the bottom.
