- Details of Event
- He and his mate had been barring a piece of coal down, but failed to get it down They, therefore drew the sprags of some holed coal close to it, but it did not fall even then. The deceased, thinking, after the attempts had been made to get the coal down, that it would be safer to re-set the sprags until they filled the coal, was setting a sprag when the coal fell and knocked him with his back against a tub, which was standing about 5 ft away, and severely bruised his back. Passive congestion of the lungs set in, and he died on October 30th from heart failure.
