Venables was run over cud fatally injured by two runaway empty tubs on an inclined endless-rope haulage road. He was one of a party of 20 or 10 persons who rushed outbye shortly before "loose it," and contrary to the orders of the person in charge of the signals , who had told them t hat no signal for travelling on the road had been given.
