Deceased was standing on a platform 14 inches wide-formed of two loose battens and about 6 feet high, and was engaged in levelling coal, charged into a bye product coke oven, by means of a rake 21 feet long. He fell from the platform on to a concrete floor and fractured his skull. There was no evidence to indicate how or why he had fallen. The platform ought to have been wider.
