- He and his mate had just set three props for safety because they noticed a weight break along the goaf edge parallel to the coal face, when a stone 4.5ft. long by 3ft. broad and varying in thickness, from one to 18 inches in thickness, fell and displaced two of these props and caught and killed the deceased man. The cause of the fall was sudden weight.
