- Details of Event
- This man was working with another in a jud 6 yards wide, which was bounded on the outbye side by a previously driven, and fallen jud, and on the inbye side by an old fallen herd. The jud was nearly holed into a goaf a few weeks old. The top stone was a very short shale. It was known that a slip ran along the left side of the place with a breaker on the right side. The hewers were both working near the middle of the place, when the weight of the roof burst the thin rib of coal and swept the timber out. There was a very heavy fall of stone which completely buried Turner, and when got out he was dead.
