He had taken the screw clip off the endless rope and was stooping down to unhook the clip chain from the first of three full tubs when he stumbled and fell over the rails. Before he could recover himself, the first tub passed over him, and the second got upon him and injured him so severely that he died the following day in Pontefract Infirmary.
