- Details of Event
- The deceased acted as waiter-on at the Chisnall Hall mouthing, and was last seen alive by a fireman who went inbye to prime some siphon pipes. He was apparently all right about half-an-hour later when the fireman signalled to him to open the valve of the siphon by rapping on the pipes. Two hours later the fireman returned to the shaft, but as Turner was missing, a search was made and his body was found in the sump. The entrance to the shaft was very well fenced and the mouthing lighted by electric lamps. There was no evidence to show how the deceased fell down the shaft.
