- Details of Event
- Died Aug. 16th. Deceased was working in a clay pit not 20 feet deep therefore the accident does not come under the Quarries Act. A mass of clay amounting to about 1 ton fell from a face 14 feet deep, relieved by a crack, the existence of which was known. Deceased had been warned by a fellow workman to stand clear as it was not safe. He took a shovel and tried to lever it down at the side and jumped in the wrong direction when it fell.
