- Details of Event
- Died 24th December. Deceased was employed dressing stones for a new pit bank. He left his work and went about 10 yards away to make water on the nut coal road where several loaded wagons were standing, the last one lowered from the screen being about a yard behind the others and he stood in this space and while there another loaded wagon was lowered by gravity from the screen, the road inclining about 1 in 72, and bumped the last wagon forward and he was crushed between the buffers. There appeared to be some doubt as to whether the person who lowered the wagon was the proper person to do the work.
