Details of Event
Deceased was cleaning dirt out of the holing after a coal-cutting machine in the Basseymine Ironstone. He was close up to the face wielding a long-handled shovel. A piece of coal fell off and was followed by a piece of stone and a stretcher. The fall struck him on the head fracturing the base of the skull. Meningitis supervened and he died on the 11th February.
