An empty railway truck which was being. drawn up the siding by a stationary engine appears to have twisted round and crushed him against the weigh-house in consequence of the rope catching in some way under the frame of the weigh-bridge. The sidings are very awkward and badly laid out, with heavy gradients in places. My attention has been directed to their general condition by Mr. Bell, General Secretary to the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, but until the new rules, which are contemplated on the subject are established, no great pressure can apparently be brought to bear, and the Company does not seem inclined to move in the matter, as it will, no doubt, entail some outlay.
