- Details of Event
- The men at this colliery are conveyed from the workings, up the endless rope inclines, to the shaft by means of low trolleys upon which the men kneel. Six men ride on each trolley and four trolleys complete the set. The men have been accustomed to get on to the trolleys while still on the level, and the men push the trolleys to the incline, when they are clipped to the haulage rope. At the time of the accident the men were on the trolleys and were being pushed towards the incline, when the deceased in some way struck his head against a bar, causing fractured dislocation of the neck from which he died about 34 hours later. The height from the top of the trolley to the bar was 3 feet.
