Died 3rd January, 1902. It was stated that deceased strained himself while at work in the pit on the night of September 10th-11th and that he only worked one day afterwards. No evidence was to any accident was forth coming. Some weeks afterwards was operated on for rupture of the bowels and seemed likely to become well again; pneumonia set in from which he also recovered but died suddenly from heart failure. An inquest was held which my predecessor attended and left the following record 'There is no doubt that the deceased met with some injury or other in the pit. The jury's verdict was accidental death.
