- Details of Event
- He and another were repairing a runner plate on the skip road near to a bend in the shaft. He sat astride a divider with his head between the runners, and while in this position the skip descended from the surface and struck him. He died a few hour later. Arrangements had been made to notify the engineman that these men were working on the skip road, and to warm him not to move the skip before he received a pre-arranged signal, but owing to some bungling the instructions miscarried.
