- Details of Event
- A fall of roof or hanging wall occurred some fathoms above where he and others were working. The stone alighted on the floor or footwall and broke. The main part of the fall passed his two comrades, but whether it struck him or in his attempt to take refuge he fell from the arch of ground on which he was standing to where be was found (about 12 feet) is unknown. His skull was fractured and he died in hospital the same evening. Two days previously the place bad been examined by the men themselves right down from the stall above, and it was visited by the shift-boss daily. The underground agent was there the day before.
