- Details of Event
- Deceased was loading a tub of coal by the side of a pillar in a Thick coal opening, when a piece of "Sawyer" coal fell from the pillar side and injured him so severely that he died a few minutes later. The ‘Benches’ and ‘Slipper’ coal had just previously been worked off, and the "Sawyer' above sounded strong but the piece which fell came off from between two converging slips which it was alleged were not visible before the fall ho piece two feet thick, and triangular in shape, the two short sides of which were two feet and three feet respectively.
