11 July 1917: Fatal Accident In Aitken Pit - On Wednesday morning Thomas Todd, a miner, met with a fatal accident in the Aitken Pit of Kelty Colliery. A fall occurred from the roof and Todd was caught in it. The base of his skull was fractured and he died shortly afterwards. Todd, who is 38 years of age, leaves a widow and four children, who reside at Whiteside Road, Townhill, Dunfermline. [Dunfermline Journal 14 July 1917]
