This accident took place in a seam 4ft. in thickness and having an inclination of 1 in 1.19. A pillar on rise side of the level was being taken out by day shift men, and deceased and another, working on the back shift, were ripping and retimbering the road as the working face advanced. He had just set a bar almost in line with the advancing face when a fall of roof estimated to weigh from 10 to 15 tons came away without warning, from a slip and break, previously unseen and caused injuries which resulted fatally on the following day.
