- While charging a hole with presumably partially or completely frozen gelignite it exploded killing him on the spot. A warming pan was provided but apparently not used on this occasion although only a few weeks before it was shown the pan and was told by the foreman that it was need regularly. These men are probably more of the navvy class than quarrymen and as in or navvy work there are no regulations on the subject of blasting it is difficult to get them to carry out the rules when engaged in quarries.
