Fall of ground from the side or face of the stope in which they were working, in consequence of slips and a break in the ground. The stone was of such size (3.5 tons) that something would give no indication of its being loose. As the result of examination the day before by the manager, one of the underground agents, and the brother of Trathen, who was in charge of the place, no danger was apprehended.
