Whilst helping to clear a fall in the main haulage road a slab of stone, 24 feet by 15 inches by 2 inches fell from the roof across his shoulders and fractured his spine. The roof was hard grey sandstone and the fall was due, in all probability, to the setting of the roof on the temporary timber which had been set.
