Died from blood-poisoning supervening upon a slight cut on his hand caused by a piece of rusty boiler scale when cleaning out a boiler. He must have been in a bad state of health, and as he and his wife refused to allow the doctor to lance the hand, this no doubt contributed to the bloodpoisoning.
