They were engaged in changing some, iron pipes in No.1 Shaft and were being lowered in the shaft by means of a hand crab which was controlled by five men. When they were within 50 feet of the shaft bottom the crab "came out of gear," and the two men, a pipe which they had with them, and the winding rope fell into the sump. 2 killed.
