- Details of Event
- Deceased’s duty was to take the empty trams out of the cage. About 10a.m. the cage landed at the bottom, when it was found that the forks that keep the trams in position were not acting, and deceased took a bar to prize them up, when a piece of stone or coal fell down from the cage that had just reached the surface, and struck him on his back, fracturing his spine. He died in about a few hours from shock and loss of blood from a wound in the back.
