Details of Event
Both men were widening a main road at a passbye 150 yards from the pit bottom. The road was closely and substantially timbered and covered over. A fall of 100 tons occurred covering the whole area of the newly widened road, 32 feet long, and 13 feet 6 inches wide, running out all the eight newly set bars, but not breaking them. It took four hours to recover the first body. 2 killed.
