- Details of Event
- His work was to attend the screen engine and to look after the screening machinery. No coal was passing over the Best Coal belt, and the men were at the next one. Two heard an unusual noise, and on looking round saw the deceased being whirled round the shafting which drives the jigging screen. He had apparently been standing upon the moving picking belt and been caught by the bolt ends in a coupling-box of the shaft, which revolved at 110 revolutions per minute. What he was doing is not unclear, but as the engine and machinery had very shortly before bean standing half an hour, he had had ample opportunity of attending to them.
