- Details of Event
- The two men started that day to work away a pillar which had been left to support the engine plane, and had only been at work 1.25 hours, and had exposed the new roof for a length of 2 feet 6 inches, when it broke over a newly set sprag put up to support it, and killed both men. The part of the roof which fell pushed off some, of the coal under it and exposed a break, so that the whole weight of 3 tons which fell was only supported by one spragging prop set by one of the deceased men. 2 killed.
