- Details of Event
- A number of large pieces of stone had been displaced from the face of the quarry, and he told another man were instructed to drill holes in them preparatory to firing small charges of dynamite in them for the purpose of breaking the stones. They had been instructed to work at the bottom of the quarry and not to go on the heap of stones but he went about 3 yards up. He was sitting on a flat stone holding a drill for another man to strike when the stone slipped down and caused him to fall. The stone followed him and fell on the lower part of his abdomen causing severe internal injuries. Died same day.
