9 November 1928: Bonnyrigg Miner Fatally Injured – The death occurred yesterday of Thomas Brock, a mineworker, who resided at Sherwood Cottages, Bonnyrigg. He had been engaged in Polton Pit in one of the underground sections when a quantity of stone from the roof fell upon him. Deceased was about 60 years of age. [Scotsman 10 November 1928]
