12 April 1940: Fatal Accident in Colliery At Cambuslang - Robert Broadley (38), a miner, of 6 Bain Street, Cambuslang, received fatal injuries in Gateside Colliery, Cambuslang, about midnight on Friday. It appears that he and two other men were overtaken by a team of empty hutches which crashed into them while they were walking to the pit bottom after completing their shift. The other men were slightly injured. Broadley leaves a widow and a family of six. [Scotsman 15 April 1940]
