- Details of Event
- Deceased was assisting the stallman to unload stone that was brought into the stall in tubs from another part of the workings. After assisting to side, over a tub full of stone into one of the wastes, he went to the tub mouth to take out the stone when a heavy fall of roof coal measuring 12 feet by 3 feet by 2 feet 6 inches occurred and severely injured his head. He died on the 24th. Some of the roof coal had previously fallen, and the back row of props was under the lip. It is probable, that in turning the tub over, either it or some of the stone disturbed these props. Two or three of them were pushed out by the fall.
