Deceased was run over and killed by an empty journey as he was taking a report-book from the nine feet seam back to the pit bottom . How the accident occurred is not known. The road was 12 ft. wide and was provided with manholes, 10 yards apart He was last seen alive by a repairer, 100 yards from where he was killed His safety lamp was then alight.
